Minimum controllable rpm with DRV11873

Dear,

I am using the DRV11873 to control a small Faulhaber 1509T006 brushless DC motor. I have built the schematic of section 9.2 in the datasheet and since the motor does not have a COM pin, I have followed the instructions in section 9.1.

Above an rpm of 30%, the motor runs fine (up to 100%, which is around 10.000 rpm) and I can read out the speed correctly. But below 30% (or below an rpm of around 3500), the motor just does not rotate anymore. I understand that the motor will not be controllable down to very low rpms, but 3500 is a too high limit for my application. Since I would also like to have the motor running at e.g. 500 rpm, this is a problem.

Could you give me some indications on what causes this problem? Having FS low or high does not seem to make a difference. Do the resistor and capacitance values of the schematic in section 9.2 of the datasheet have an effect? Any help would be appreciated :-).

Kind regards,

Tjorven
